At least 43 people were killed in separate road accidents in Rangpur, Manikganj, Satkhira, Dhaka, Shariatpur, Feni, Gopalganj, Rajshahi, Natore, Gaibandha, Munshiganj, Jessore and Comilla districts during the Eid vacation. Many people were also injured at the same time.
Of them in Rangpur, six members of a family were killed when a bus ran over a rickshaw van at Taraganj in the district on Friday afternoon.
The victims were identified as Rawshan Ara Begum, 50, Shahidul Islam, 40, Dulali Begum,30, Shahnaz, 22 and Mustakim, 4.
Abdul Latif, Officer-in-Charge of Taraganj Police Station, said that the Rangpur-bound bus from Syedpur hit the three-wheeler around 5:45 PM, killing the six on the spot. Being informed, police reaching the spot recovered the bodies.
In Manikganj, a bus and a truck driver were killed in a frontal collision between the two vehicles at Golora on Friday night.
Md. Nurul Alam, Officer-in-Charge of Golora Highway Police Station, confirmed the news of the accident saying that a bus of the Golden Line service was heading towards Barisal from Dhaka and a truck was proceeding from the opposite direction. The two collided head-on killing the two drivers and injuring 19. They were taken to Manikganj Sadar Hospital.
In Feni, Fakhrul Islam, 40, a medical representative, working at Sonagazi upazilla, was killed after a private car slammed him on Monday near Dhoaliya Ukilbari in Feni district. At that time, he was riding a motor bike. Fakhrul Islam was the inhabitant of Asimpatali village in Fulbaria upazilla of Mymensingh district. He was going to Feni en route to his village home to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr with relatives.
In Satkhira, van driver Hafizur Rahman, 22, was killed after a bus had knocked down his vehicle at Shyamnagar in Satkhira district on Saturday morning.
In a separate incident in Debhata upazila of the same district at Friday night, a man was killed and several others were injured when a bus ran over a motorbike. The deceased identified as Shaheb Ali, 28, was the inhabitant of of Choubaria village in Kaligonj upazila of the same district.
In Dhaka, two women were killed by a bus at Shanir Akhra under Jatrabari thana in Dhaka district
on Tuesday morning when they were crossing the road. The deceased were identified as Jasmin Akhtar, 21, wife of Shahid Hossain from Charuttar village in Babuganj upazilla of Barisal district and Hashi Begam, 35, wife of Sayeed Ali from Alipur village in Dashmina upazila of Patuakhali district. Abul Kalam, Officer in-Charge of Jatrabari Police Station confirmed that.
In Comilla, a woman was killed in a road accident in Chouddagram upazila of the district. Marium Begum, 25, succumbed in the hospital after admission with serious injuries. The tragic death occurred after a bus fell into a ditch on Saturday noon. More than 15 people were receiving treatment in the hospital.
Sergeant Shafiqul Azam, in-charge of nearby Miabazar Highway Police Station confirmed the tragedy.
He said, a Dhaka bound bus from Noakhali fell into a ditch when the driver lost its control over the steering. The local people took the injured to the Comilla Medical College Hospital. After same time, Marium Begum breathed his last.
In Shariatpur, a minor girl named Sadiya Islam, 4, was killed when she was run over by a auto-rickshaw with her grandfather at Vedorgonj upazila in Shariatpur district on Saturday morning. The Officer in-Charge of Palang Police Station, Khalilur Rahman, confirmed the news.
At least two persons, including a minor girl, were killed and 51 others injured in Rangpur and Madaripur districts on July 8.

In Rajshahi, two youths were killed when a goods-laden human hauler turned turtle and fell into a roadside ditch after its driver lost control over his steering at Jhikra area under Charghat Upazila on July 3.
In Gaibandha, four persons were killed and 24 others injured when two passenger buses collided head-on at Dhaperhat on the Rangpur-Dhaka highway under Sadullapur upazila on July 4.
In Gopalganj, Israil Shikdar, President of Dhaka district unit of Jatiya Juba Jote, was killed at Kashiani Bus Stand in Goplaganj on the Faridpur-Barisal Highway. Besides, a journalist also killed and four of his family members were injured when a microbus carrying them plunged into a roadside ditch at Poona under Kashiani upazila in the district on July 5.
In Faridpur, one micro-bus driver was also killed and fifty other passengers of five vehicles were injured on the Dhaka-Khulna highway under Bhanga upazila on July 5.
