The 42nd death anniversary of Sur Samrat Ustad Alauddin Khan will be observed today.
To mark the death anniversary, an elaborate programme has been taken.
Ustad Alauddin Khan, legendary sarodiya, multi-instrumentalist, composer and one of the most renowned music teachers of the 20th century in Indian classical music, was born in Shibpur village under Nabinagar upazila of Brahmanbaria district in 1862.
After training under some great musicians of his time, in 1918, in recognition of his talent he earned a place at the court of the king of Maihar in India.
He earned many honorary degrees and awards including Sangeet Natak Akademi Award (1952), Padma Bhushan (1958), Padma Vibhushan (1971) and so on.
Sur Samrat Ustad Alauddin Khan breathed his last at Maihar in India in 1972. He was buried there where he is remembered as a bright star of the music world.
