Chattogram Bureau :
The number of coronavirus (COVID-19) positive cases in the district crossed 42,000 marks as 494 new cases were diagnosed with the lethal virus after testing 2540 samples in seven COVID-19 laboratories in the last 24 hours. The infection rate is 19.45 percent.
Among the newly detected patients, 439 are from Chattogram city and 55 from different upazilas of the district, hospital sources said.
The total numbers of COVID-19 patients now stand at 42,301 only in Chattogram district till today, Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi, civil surgeon of Chattogram, said yesterday.
Meanwhile Coronavirus has killed 3 people in the last 24 hours in Chittagong. A total of 400 people died as a result till yesterday, a sources of civil surgeon office said. 414 people have been newly infected on this day.
According to the Civil Surgeon’s Office, 2,756 samples were tested in six labs in Chittagong, including the Cox’s Bazar Medical College Lab, at 11am on Wednesday (April 8). Among the new victims, 373 were in the city and 41 in the upazila. As a result, a total of 42,615 people were infected in Chittagong.
The health expert of Chattogram urged city dwellers again and again to strictly follow health rules and use masks due to continuous increasing corona infections here.
Civil surgeon Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi told media that among the total 42,301 coronavirus infected persons, 33,821 are the residents of the port city and the rest 8440 are residents of different upazilas of the district.
A total of 1512 infected patients are now undergoing treatment at designated hospitals here, the health official mentioned.
