The district administration has distributed 31,400 pieces of blankets among poor people of the district during last couple of days to mitigate their sufferings.
Office source said district relief and rehabilitation office received the blankets from the Prime Minister’s Office, Department of Disaster Management and a national NGO this season to distribute those to the cold victims of the district. The blankets are being distributed to the cold hit distressed and poor people of all the seven upazilas in the district under the direct supervision of upazila administration and local government bodies, said district relief and rehabilitation officer M. Habibur Rahman.
BSS from Rangpur reports: State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Mashiur Rahman Ranga distributed 10,000 pieces of blankets among the cold hit people of all 10 unions in Gangachara upazila yesterday.
The State Minister distributed the blankets among the poor and distressed people, including divorcees and elderly women, from his own fund at a ceremony arranged on Gangachara upazila parishad premises as the chief guest.
Gangachara upazila chairman Asaduzzaman Bablu, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Tauhidul Islam, Sadar Union Parishad Chairman Motiar Rahman, government officials, chairmen of all 10 union parishads, political leaders and elite of the upazila were present.
Another reports adds: Rangpur Divisional Administration Family Association (RDAFA) distributed blankets among the cold-hit distressed people of Gangachara upazila in the district on Monday afternoon.
President of RDAFA Afia Bakht (wife of Divisional Commissioner Muhammad Dilwar Bakht) distributed 450 pieces of quality blankets at a ceremony arranged on Gangachara upazila parishad premises as the chief guest.
Member of the executive committee of RDAFA Kazi Parveen Akhter (wife of Deputy Commissioner-DC of Rangpur Rahat Anwar) presided over the function moderated by Gangachara Upazila Nirbahi Officer Tauhidul Islam.
General Secretary of RDAFA Fatema Sarah Sagorika (wife of the Chief Executive Officer of Rangpur City Corporation) and its Joint Secretary Sabrina Tabassum Chowdhury (wife of Private Secretary to the Divisional Commissioner) addressed.
Treasurer of RDAFA Moni Biswas (wife of Additional District Magistrate), its Sports & Cultural Affairs Secretary Zannatul Ferdous (wife of the Secretary of Rangpur City Corporation), Social Welfare Secretary Nasrine Sultana (wife of ADC-General) and executive committee members Muslima Nargis (wife of Gaibandha DC), Beauty Biswas (wife of Thakurgaon DC) and Naharina Akhter (wife of Nilphamari DC) attended the ceremony, among others.
