41 more die of Covid-19, 1,827 new cases

Confirmed coronavirus cases in Bangladesh have surged to 331,078 with the registration of 1,827 more infections in the last 24 hours till Wednesday.
Besides, 41 more people succumbed to the virus during the period to take the tally to 4,593.
Of the new deceased, 29 are men and 12 are women. Among the total dead, 3,582 or 77.99 percent are men while 1,011 or 22.01 percent are women.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) disclosed the information through a press release in the afternoon.
As per the press release, 2,995 more patients recovered from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, taking the total recoveries to 230,804.
During the period, 14,755 samples were tested in 94 labs across the country. With this, a total of 1,674,452 samples have so far been tested in the country. In comparison with the tests conducted in the last 24 hours, the infection rate is 19.77. Against the total number of detected cases, the recovery rate is 69.71 percent while the mortality rate is 1.39 percent.
On Tuesday, Bangladesh reported 36 deaths from coronavirus and 1,892 cases after testing 14,973 samples.
Meanwhile, the global death toll from coronavirus has jumped past 9 lakh to reach 901,866 as of Wednesday morning. Besides, 27,738,653 people have so far been sickened with the virus across the world, according to Worldometer.
Of the currently infected 7,004,803 patients, 6,944,416 ( are in mild condition while 60,387 are in serious or critical condition.
So far, 19,831,984 people have made recovery from the disease in different countries.
The US is the worst-hit country with highest cases and deaths in the world at 6,514,231 and 194,032 respectively while India has 2nd highest cases at 4,370,128 and Brazil has 2nd highest deaths of 127,517.
