A mobile court confiscated 4,000 tonnes of rice on behalf of state from a warehouse in port city on Thursday The mobile court led by executive magistrate Syed Murad Ali launched a drive at the warehouse of “Ahmed Trading” in the city around 1.30 pm and confiscated the rice in 80,000 sacks.
He said they confiscated the rice as the trading company, Masud and Brothers, stored the rice in the warehouse for the last 39 days in a bid to create artificial crisis in the local market. Warehouse owner Abu Taher, was also detained from the spot for interrogation, he added. The mobile team sealed the warehouse and give its custody to Pahartali thana.
