Housing and Public Works Minister Engineer Mosharraf Hossain said the government has a plan to provide housing facilities to 40 percent government officials and employees working in the capital Dhaka within three years.
“Only eight percent government officials and employees get housing facilities at this moment. We are making arrangements for providing housing facilities to 40 percent government staff,” he said this on Friday while visiting the progress of construction of government staff quarters in Agargaon, Azimpur and Motijheel areas in the city, said a press release.
The minister said the government will construct multi-storied buildings after demolishing the existing old staff quarters in different parts of the city.
He expressed satisfaction over the progress of work and asked the authorities concerned to set up separate Sewerage Treatment Plant (STP) in every under construction building and have a walkway beside each building.
Among others, Housing and Public Works Secretary M Shahid Ulla Khandaker and chief engineer of Public Works Department M Hafizur Rahman Munshi were present on the occasion.
