40 MPs requested not to join Parliament

Forty Members of Parliament (MPs) have been requested not to attend the current session amid the spike in coronavirus cases.
They were phoned from the Chief Whip’s office discouraging them from joining Parliament’s current session due to the growing coronavirus infections.
The 40 MPs are Leader of Opposition and MP of Mymensingh-4 seat, Raushan Ershad, Deputy Leader of Parliament Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury of Faridpur-2, Member of Awami League Advisory Council Amir Hossain Amu of Jhalakathi-2, Senior Member of Parliament Tofail Ahmed of Bhola-1, Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim of Gopalganj-2, Advocate Sahara Khatun of Dhaka-18, Engineer Mosharraf Hossain of Chittagong-1, Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain of Faridpur-3, Abul Hasnat Abdullah of Barisal-1, Imaz Uddin Pramanik of Naogaon-4, Abul Kalam Azad of Jamalpur-1, President of Workers Party and Rashed Khan Menon of Dhaka-8, President of Jatiya Party (JP) and Anwar Hossain Monju of Pirojpur-2, AKM Fazlul Haque of Sherpur-3, Maqbool Hossain of Pabna-3, Moslem Uddin of Mymensingh-6, Shahjahan Mia of Patuakhali-1, Dabirul Islam of Thakurgaon-2, ruling party Whip Panchanan Biswas of Khulna-1, Sheikh Annie Rahman and Jinnatul Bakia of reserved seats and BNP MP lawyer Abdus Sattar.
Besides, Lutfun Nesa Khan, a member of the reserved seat and wife of Rashed Khan Menon, was requested not to attend the session.
Deputy Minister for Education Mahibul Hasan Chowdhury of Chittagong-9, Kazi Keramat Ali of Rajbari-1, Kazi Nabil Ahmed of Jessore-3 and Ahsanul Islam (Titu) of Tangail-6 seats have also been requested not to attend the session.
Sheikh Tanmoy of Bagerhat-2 constituency and Sheikh Helal Uddin, MP of Bagerhat-1 constituency and father of Sheikh Tanmoy, have already been requested not to attend this session.
Sources at the Chief Whip’s office said MPs who are at the risk of getting infected with the virus due to age or underlying physical condition or MPs and any of their family members tested positive for corona or they have come in contact with corona patients, have been requested not to join the parliament session on health safety ground.
