40 gold bars seized at HSIA

Customs Intelligence seized 40 gold bars weighing 4.5 kilograms worth around Tk 2.33 crore at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) during the wee hours of Wednesday.
But, no one was arrested in this connection, Customs official said.
Moinul Khan, Director General of Customs
Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID), said, “Acting on a tip-off, a team of Customs Intelligence conducted a search on Emirates flight EK-584 coming from Dubai soon after it landed at the airport. The detective officials found the gold bars in the plane’s economy class.”
The bars were wrapped in black tapes and kept under a seat cover, the CIID chief said. There was no passenger in the seat, the DG said.
“We are investigating the incident,” he said.
