40 families in Sunamganj get houses free of cost

A total of 40 poor families were allotted new dwellings in a clustre village at Puran Lakshmansree under Sunamganj Sadar recently. They got houses free of cost under Prime Minister’s Ashrayan Project II.
Deputy Commissioner of Sunamganj MA Ahad handed over the documents to the recipients at a function.
Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Yasmin Nahar Ruma chaired the inaugural function of Lakshmansree Guchhagram-II while the DC attended it as the chief guest.
The chief guest said the clustre village on the government land (Khas land) had been established at a cost of Tk 6.35 million for accommodating 40 poor families.
The allottees should be self-reliant through getting involved with income generating activities. A mosque and a temple would be set up in the village soon, he added. Electricity facilities would also be there, he added.
The allotment would be cancelled for not adopting family planning methods, said additional deputy commissioner (Revenue) Md. Shafiul Alam.
Additional District Magistrate Prodip Sinha said each of the tin-shed houses had been built on four decimals of land while allotment is under a 99 years’ lease.
However, the government have the right to cancel the allotments if needed, he added.
Sadar upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land), Nusrat Fatima conducted the function while Project Implementation Officer Manik Mia and Gourarang union council chairman Phul Mia also spoke in presence of the locals.
