Lawmaker Badsha said women’s participation in the economy has increased steadily. He said both government and non-government agencies have taken effective initiatives to develop the capacity of women as entrepreneurs and increase women’s access to micro-credit and technology.
Promoting women’s role in building a peaceful and developed society is not an exclusive responsibility of women, he said adding that it requires strong partnerships based on equal rights, responsibilities and opportunities for both women and men, and the local government body has to make ground for that.
Badsha said equality between women and men is a progressive concept. He viewed that development is directly connected to socio-economic issues like gender equality and women empowerment.
