The incident took place over draining out stagnated water from wet lands of the area to cultivate crops there, Mokarram Hossain, officer in-charge, Monirampur police station told Newsmen. ‘The incident has no connection with the mission,’ he added.

The priest alleged that 40 to 50 people attack him and others led by Master Haridas Mallik to establish supremacy over the mission at around 9:30pm on Sunday.
Master Haridas Mallik, however, denied the allegation saying that villagers carried out the act as the priest stopped draining out water from several wetlands by using swallow machines.
The Monirampur OC also admits that opinion of Haridas. ‘The police were hunting for the attackers,’ the OC added.
