UNB, Dhaka :A tribunal here on Tuesday sentenced four people to death for killing a minor girl after rape in Faridpur in 2012.The condemned convicts are M Shamim Mondol, Zahidul Hasan alias Zahid Hasan, M Babul Hossain alias Babu Hossain Matabbar alias Raju Hossain and Akash Mondol. Of them, Raju and Akash are on the run.The tribunal also fined the convicts Tk 20,000 each under section 302/34 of the Penal Code.Besides, the court sentenced the four to life term imprisonment and fined Tk one lakh each, in default, to server three months more rigorous imprisonment under section 9(3)/30 of Women and Children Repression Prevention Act. According to the case statement, the 13-year-old victim, a resident of Kashimabad village under Kotwali Police Station, had an affair with one of the convicts, Shamim Mondol.Shamim had proposed the victim’s family to marry her, a proposal turned down by her family. Angered by the refusal, Shamim on December 13, 2012 along with his three associates-Zahid, Babul and Akash-forcibly took the girl to a garden of the village around 7pm and raped her one after another.Later, they strangulated the girl and hanged the body from a tree. Later on December 15, victim’s brother Hasibul Islam filed a case with Kotwali Police Station against unidentified people.
