SI withdrawn: 4 sued for torturing kid in Habiganj

Habigabj police on Thursday picked up suspect Shah Alam and three others in connection with the incident of torturing three children after a case was filed.
 Earlier on Wednesday, a Sub-Inspector of Habiganj Model Police Station was withdrawn on charge of negligence of duties over the incident of torturing the children in Habiganj town.
Rajkumar, an SI of Habiganj Model Police Station, was withdrawn on Wednesday, Raselur Rahman, Additional Superintendent (South) of Habiganj Police, said.
The police officer went to the scene after hearing the news of torture, but he did not take any measure to rescue the victims, additional superintendent of Habiganj police said.
Later, as per instruction of Superintendent of Police, Officer-in-Charge of Habiganj PS Md Najim Uddin rescued them, he added.
The three children have been identified as Rony, 12, son of Abdul Khalek; Rubel, 13, son of Bachchu Mia; and Mahin, 12.
Mahin’s family used to live at a rented house owned by one Shah Alam.
It was alleged that Shah Alam tortured and confined the three children bringing allegation of stealing mobile phone on Wednesday morning.
Someone recorded the scene as the entire incident took place in front of local people.
Superintendent of Police Joydev Kumar Bhadra decided to withdraw SI Rajkumar after the video of torture was telecast by different private television channels, afterwards going viral on social media.
