Barishal district administration operating a mobile court raiding different shops of the city on Tuesday noon fined four shops total 35 thousand taka for selling masks more than usual retail price.
The mobile court was led by administrative magistrate Ziaur Rahman.
During the two hour long raid from1:00 PM at Falpatty, Chawkbazar and Launch Ghat area of the city, the mobile court found some traders selling the masks in exorbitant price at the rate of Tk.100-150 instead of regular price of Tk.20-30 per piece.
So we fined each of 2 shops at Fallpatty Tk.5, 000, one shop at Hazi Mohsin Market in Launch Ghat area Tk.20, 000 and one shop at Zila Parishad Market in Chawakbazaar area of the city Tk.5, 000 under section 40 of consumer rights act of 2009.
We also cautioned all traders not to repeat offence in future by making mass people hostages and creating panic of spreading corona virus for flourishing their business, said executive magistrate Ziaur Rahman.
Upazila sanitary and food safety inspector Zakir Hossain and members of law enforcing agencies accompanied the court.
