Police on Friday night arrested four activists of Islami Chhatra Shibir in connection with bomb attack on a bus carrying teachers of Chittagong University in Hathazari upazila here on Wednesday.
Police launched a drive on the campus and its adjacent areas at night and arrested Ansarul Haq, a staff of the university, Imon Hossain, Md Mostafa and Nurul Amin., said Abul Kashem, sub-inspector of Hathazari police station.
Meanwhile, the teachers of Chittagong University observed one-hour work abstention on Saturday protesting the bomb attack.
CU Teachers’ Association (CUTA) president Benu Kumer said they observed the strike from 11 am to 12 pm.
“If action is not taken against those involved in the attack by September 16, we will announce tougher programme on September 17”, he said.
Earlier, on Thursday CUTA took decision to observe one-hour work abstention everyday from Saturday to Tuesday.
At least 12 people, including nine teachers of Chittagong University (CU), were injured as miscreants hurled bombs at a bus carrying them at Chhararkul in Hathazari upazila on Wednesday morning.
The teachers who fell victims to the attack blamed Islami Chhatra Shibir activists for the incident.
Two cases were filed accusing over 70 people, including Islami Chhatra Shibir Chittagong University unit president, in this connection on Wednesday night.
