4 robbers, 103 persons held on various charges

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in a raid arrested four alleged robbers with firearms and looted motorbike from Patiya upazila of the district early Monday.
The arrested robbers were identified as Abdur Rouf Bhuttu, 45, Jahangir Alam Khokon, 37, Taiob Ali, 26 and Rezaul Karim, 50. Acting on secret information that a gang of armed robbers was taking preparation to commit robbery in the house of Prof. Jafar Mostafa , a team of RAB-7 conducted a raid in the premises of one Prof. Jafar Mostafa’s house at Lakergaon village under Patiya upazila and managed to apprehend these robbers. RAB also recovered a foreign pistol with magazine, two rounds of cartridge, a dagger, six mobile phone sets, TK 31,745 and a looted motor bike from them.
Meanwhile, Chittagong district police in overnight special drives arrested 103 people from 14 upazilas of the district on Sunday night.
Mohammad Naimul Hasan, Additional Superintendent of Police (Special Branch) of Chittagong district, said Among the arrestees one was a Shibir leader, 11 were accused in regular cases while 91 others were under warrants of arrest in different cases.
