4 put on remand over Keraniganj boy killing

A Dhaka court on Wednesday placed four people on remand for different terms to quiz them in connection with the killing of an eleven-year old schoolboy after abduction in Keraniganj of the district.
Those put on remand are, Khorshed Alam, Al-Amin Mahmud, Mitu Akhter and
Mehedi Hasan. The last accused was placed on a seven-day remand while others were taken for five days’ remand each. Dhaka’s Senior Judicial Magistrate Nazmun Nahar Nipu passed the order. Earlier, Shafiqul Alam, a Sub-Inspector of Keraniganj Model Police Station and also the Investigation Officer of the case, produced them to the court, seeking a ten-day remand for each accused. Besides, the court rejected the bail petitions of Khorshed and Al-Amin. Earlier, police recovered the body of child M Abdullah, a class five student of Mugarchar Government Primary School and son of M Badol Hossain, from a plastic drum at a house in Mugarchar area on Tuesday four days after abduction.
Marfat Ali, grandfather of Abdullah filed a case in this connection on January 31. Police arrested four people: Mehedi Hasan, 20, and Mitu Akhter, 20, son and daughter of prime accused Motahar Hossain, neighbour Al-Amin, 21 and Khorshed Alam, 32. Motahar is on the run.
