Four policemen sued before the court in Chittagong by a trader of Chittagong . A trader of Majirghat area in Chittagong named Abdur Rashid(55) filed a case for alleged beating and demand of extortions by four police members of Sadartghat thana in city before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md. Moshiur Rahman Chowdhury on Wednesday last. The plaintiff of the suit is the owner of M/s. RS Selvez and Trading and gehatneral secretary of Majirghat Kutcha Bazar Samity.
The accused police members of sadarghat thana are SI Md. Shahjahan, Md. Nazir , ASI Shimul and constable Alamgir. Counsel of the plaintiff Adv Shimul Dutta said court accepted the petition in cognigance and asked the Police commissioner to submit the report immediately. Court sources said these alleged policemen demanded extortion of tk.10 thousand on January 7 last from the plaintiff while loading a truck with fertilizer accusing him these fertilizers are being loaded for smuggling purpose in front of business house in majirghat and mercilessly beaten while refused to pay tolls court sources said , the plaintiff and his son were also beaten by them bringing in thana hajat , petition sources said.
