4 poachers were arrested with a trap from Shukpara area within Sharankhola Forest Range under the Eastern Division of Sundarbans in Bagerhat district by the forest guards in the early hours of Sunday, according to a report received here.
At that time a 4000-feet long trap (for catching deer), a mechanized boat, 2 bottles of pesticide and 2 pen-knives were seized from them. The arrested poachers are Zulhas (23), son of one Panna Hawlade of village Kathaltali under Patharghata Upazila in Barguna district, Rimon (19), son of one Habib Hawladar and Jewel (25), son of one Jobbar Howladar of same village and Sohag (25) son of one Shah Alam Hawladar of village Badurtala under the same Upazila.
Mohammad Belayet Hossain, DFO (Divisional Forest Officer) of the Eastern Division in Bagerhat district told, acting on secret information forest guards of Sharankhola Forest Range raided Shukhpara area of the forest and arrested the poachers from there (in the early hours of Sunday). Later on, the forest guards searched their boat and recovered trap, pesticides and knives from there. The arrested poachers were sent to the jail hajat in Bagerhat through the court after lodging a case with the local PS under Forest Act against them.
