Four members of a family have been killed allegedly by unidentified miscreants in Madhupur upazila of Tangail.
Being informed by locals, police recovered the throat-slit bodies from a house in Palli Bidyut road of the upazila around 9am on Friday.
The deceased were identified as Gani Miya, 45, his wife Kajiron alias Buchi, 37, and their son Tajel, 16, and minor daughter Sadia, 9.
Tangail district police’s Detective Branch In-Charge Shyamol Kumar Dutta confirmed the matter to media.
Local sources said the family moved into the house – which they owned – in the neighbourhood around a year ago.

members of the family and fled keeping the door locked from outside.
“As no valuables were taken away from the house, we suspect that it was not carried out by robbers. Rather we are suspecting that the killings might have committed by the persons centering any previous enmity,” the Police official observed.
According to locals, the house had been locked from the outside for the past few days. On early Friday, Kajiron’s mother went for a visit and, called for the family members. As there was no response, the locals informed the police.
Police then came and broke the door of the residence, found four dead bodies.
There were bruises on all of four bodies, Police have Cordoned off the house and is preparing to launch an investigation to find out the killers, and the motive behind the murder.
Kamran Hossain, Assistant Superintendent of police of Madhupur circle, told media: “Police have cordoned off the scene while two separate teams from Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of police and Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) are investigating the matter.”
After visiting the spot, Tangail Superintendent of Police (SP) Sanjit Kumar Roy said ‘An axe was found at the spot. The bodies of the victims had bore cut marks. The bodies were sent for autopsy, SP added.
At least three suspects were held for the primary interrogation, our district correspondent added.
