Four members of the same family were killed in a road accident when they were taking an ill-stricken family member to the hospital in Tangail town.
The accident occurred when a bus rammed a CNG-run three-wheeler carrying the four at the Rabna bypass area on the Dhaka-Tangail Highway Friday afternoon.
Al Amin, headmaster of a primary school in Bhuapur, had set out to admit his ailing mother Saleha Begum to the Tangail General Hospital. Accompanying him were his wife Sheuli Khatun, also a primary school teacher, sister Hajera Khatun and father Sohrab Hossain.
But alas the accident en route killed all but two-Al Amin’s sister Hajera Khatun and the three-wheeler driver Md Ferdous.
Kamal Hossain, in-charge of Elenge Highway police outpost said: “Al Amin along with his family was headed to the Tangail General Hospital from Bhuapur upazila. When they were crossing the Rabna bypass area, a bus of Shoikot Paribahan rammed the CNG-run three-wheeler carrying them.”
Six people were rescued to the Tangail General Hospital, where Al Amin succumbed to his injuries.
Meanwhile, the three others who were referred to a Dhaka hospital died en route one by one.
Police seized the bus but its driver and his assistant fled the scene, the police official added.
Shah Alam Sarkar, an associate of Al Amin, said: “Al Amin set out for Tangail General Hospital to admit his ailing mother there when the accident occurred.”
