Four members of a family were killed and another one injured in a road accident at South Surma in the city yesterday.
The deceased were identified as Humayun Kabir Afaz, 35, of Kayasthagram under Golapganj Upazilla, his mother Lal Banu, 70, his wife Salma Begum, 30, and son Rayhan, 11. Humayun Kabir was a government employee at forest department. The incident took place at around 1pm when a CNG-run auto-rickshaw carrying four passengers coming toward Sylhet city collided head-on with a truck from opposite direction in Panchmile area in the city.
The Chairman of Kuchai Union Parishad under South Surma, Abdul Bachit Suba said
that a CNG-run auto-rickshaw with four passengers of a family collided head on with a truck in Panchmile area. Humayun died on the spot.
Later the locals rescued the victims and admitted them to the Osmani Medical College Hospital. Humayun’s mother, wife and son died after reaching the hospital.
