UNB, Mymensingh :
Police arrested three youths on Wednesday in connection with the gruesome murder of a Jatiyatabadi Sramik Dal leader and three members of his family at Lobonkota village in Bhaluka upazila.
The arrestees were identified as Rafiqul Islam, Hafizur Rahman and Abdul Baten.
General Secretary of Habirbari union unit of Sramik Dal Rafiqul Islam Bachchu, his wife Parul Akhter and two daughters – Jiniya Akhter, 6, and Rima Akhter, 2 were found dead in their house Tuesday. Police suspected that the couple was hacked to death and their children were strangled sometime on Monday night.
SI Abul Hashem of Detective Branch(DB) of Police said Bachchu’s father Wares Ali filed a murder case with Bhaluka Model police station on Tuesday night against five unnamed people. Later, the case was shifted to DB police for investigation. Meanwhile, the bodies of the four people were taken to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy. The bodies will be handed over to their relatives after autopsy.
The motive behind the killing could not be known yet.
