Police in a drive arrested four suspected motorcycle snatchers from Banani area in the capital on Monday.
The identities of the arrested persons and the owner of the motor-cycle could not be known immediately.
Banani Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Shahinur Rahman said, “Some miscreants riding on a pickup snatched the motorcycle from Dhanmondi on Monday. On receipt of information, police put barricade in front of Banani Shainik Club to nab them. The pickup hit constable Abbas in order to escape arrest when they reached Banani area around 2:30am.”
He said the collar bone of the constable was broken in the incident.
Police opened fire at the snatchers that left one of them injured, the police official said.
The inspector said, “Later, police detained the four snatchers and seized the motorcycle and pickup.”
A case was filed in this connection, he said.
