At least four more persons, including a North South University student, were killed in separate road crashes in the country on Friday night and Saturday.
In Dhaka, a second-year student of North South University (NSU), who was found lying unconscious in a hospital at Khilgaon, was declared dead after being taken to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH).
The deceased was identified as Fahim Rafi, 19, a 3rd semester student of finance department.
Family sources said that Rafi left house around 5pm on Friday last.
Mystery has been flowing centering the incident. He contacted last with his father at 8:30pm saying that he was at Hatirjheel.
After 15 minutes his father received an unknown phone call which said that Rafi had been staying unconscious at Khidmah Hospital.
The family members went to the hospital and learnt that few unidentified men admitted Rafi here. He received injuries after falling on a bus floor.
Hatirjheel Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Fazlul Karim said, Police have started investigation to reveal details on how the student died.
In Meherpur, A old man named Azizul Haque (62) was killed in a road
accident near Banthanpara beside the Gangni-Hatboliya Road of Meherpur. The accident happened around 11pm on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Azizul Haque, an inhabitant of Batalapara village.
Officer-in-Charge of Gangni Police Station, Harendranath Sarker, told media that when Azizul Haque was crossing the road, a motorcycle hit him and he died on the spot.
In Cox’s Bazar, A child named Mohammad Mobarak (6) was killed in a road crash when a truck rammed him on the Cox’s Bazar-Chittagong highway in Khodaibari area.
This incident took place on Saturday noon. The deceased Mubarak was the son of Badshah Mia from West Khodai Bari area. He was the student of first grade. Witnesses said Mubarak stood on the street to return home after school leaf. At that time, a truck hit him and he died on the spot.
Alamgir Hossain, Inspector of Chakaria Malumghat Highway Police, said efforts are on to seize the killer truck.
In Moulvibazar, An imam died after struck by a bus, while he was returning to his Moulvibazar residence by a motorcycle in the evening on the Kulaura-Barlekha regional highway in Barlekha upazila of Moulvibazar on Friday night.
The deceased was identified as Mujibur Rahman, 60. He was the imam of a mosque of Juri upazila of Moulvibazar.
Barlekha Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Mintu Chowdhury confirmed the news to media.
