Police have arrested four more people in connection to the killing of Chattogram BCL leader Mohiuddin Sohel, who was beaten to death by an angry mob.
Metropolitan Police Assistant Commissioner (Double Mooring Zone) Ashiqur Rahman said they were arrested in the early hours of Monday from Pahartali Bazar in the city.
The arrestees are: Ramzan Ali Kiron, 30, Md Iqbal, 21, Md Shakil Khan Shamim, 19, and Md Lalon, 50.
The arrested persons are engaged in different occupations around Pahartali Bazar and they all live in that area, said

A total of 18 persons have been arrested so far in the case, Ashiqur Rahman. “Although the names of these four were not mentioned in the details, investigations have revealed their involvement. This is why they have been arrested.”
Businessmen of Pahartali Railway Bazar, who were ‘fed-up’ with extortionist Mohiuddin Sohel, allegedly beat him to death on the morning of Jan 7, said the police and businessmen at that time.
But, the family of the victim claimed in a press conference the day after the murder that the killing was ‘planned.’
Afterwards, Sohel’s brother Shakirul Islam Shishir became a plaintiff and named 27 in cases of murder, arson and loot, and filed cases against another 150 unidentified people. Local Ward Councillor Saber Ahmed, Jatiya Party leader Osman Khan and Jubo Dal leader Shawkat Khan
Raju were accused in the case. The police have already arrested Osman and Raju.
