4 more fishermen abducted from Sundarbans

Four more fishermen were abducted from Baikarir canal area in Shyamnagar upazila of Satkhira district adjacent to the Sundarbans.
The fishermen were abducted by a forest robber gang named “Robiul Bahini” on Friday morning.
Acquaintance of two abducted fishermen was ascertained and the identification of the two other abducted fishermen could not be ascertained immediately.
The two abducted fishermen are- Foni Mondal, 34, son of Tara Mondal, resident of Village Vetkhali and Kalam Sardar, 42, son of Abdul sardar of Munshigonj union in the same upazila of Satkhira district.
One of the fishermen who managed to escape from the scene told the journalists that some fishermen went for fishing with the permission of the forest division at Bailkari canal area adjacent to the Sundarbans. Suddenly members of a forest robber gang named “Robiul Bahini” swooped on them, and took away four fishermen on demand of ransom of taka one lakh.

Amir Hossain Chodhury, conservator of forest (CF) of Khulna region said, We have heard the matter of abduction of fishermen and we are trying to make arrangements for rescuing them after identifying their location.

It is mentionable in connection that on Wednesday five fishermen were abducted from Parshekhali area in the same upazila by the same forest robber gang.

None of the abducted fishermen could not be rescued till filing this report 1.05 pm on Friday.

The common people particularly the fishermen are in anxieties for repeated abduction of fishermen from the Sundarbans by the pirates and as such they sought for immediate step by the concerned authorities of the administrations.
