At least four people died from symptoms similar to Covid-19 from Saturday night to Sunday.
In Madaripur, a 60-year-old man died from fever, cold, and respiratory problems in Rajoir Upazila Health Complex on Sunday, confirmed Dr Mithun, resident medical officer (RMO) of the hospital. Kalkini and Rajoir upazilas have been put under lockdown from Sunday afternoon, and only food markets remain open from dawn to 11am every day.
Previously, Shibchar upazila was locked down on March 19. 18 patients have tested positive for Covid-19 in Madaripur till now.
In Rajshahi, a 22-year-old man died with Covid-19 symptoms at the isolation unit of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, early Sunday.
The patient was brought to the hospital with severe respiratory problems from Naogaon, said Dr Azad during a routine press briefing at the hospital.
His samples were sent for tests and three new patients were admitted with Covid-19 symptoms in the past 24 hours. Previously on Friday, two people admitted with such symptoms tested negative for coronavirus infection, added Dr Azad.
In Jhenaidah, a 60-year-old man died on Saturday night after suffering from cold, fever, and respiratory problems for four to five days in Kaliganj upazila.
Quoting family members, Kaliganj upazila health and family planning officer Dr Shamima Shirin Lubna said the man died on the way to hospital and his samples were sent for testing.
In Gopalganj, a woman died on Sunday, reportedly suffering from abdominal pain in Kashiani upazila. However, her neighbours claimed she might have died of Covid-19.
Subrata Kumar Saha, RMO of Kashiani Upazila Health Complex, said samples of the deceased woman, her husband, and their four-month-old baby, were sent for testing. The husband said she died suffering from abdominal pain.
