Police on Saturday arrested four more accused in connection with the murder of Sirajganj municipality councillor elect Tarikul Islam, from the capital’s Khilgaon and Sirajganj’s Ullahpara areas.
The arrestees were identified as Enamul Hossain Likhon (35), Sanwar Hossain Ratan (45), Golam Mostafa (60) and Saiful Islam (50), said Bahauddin Faruki, officer-in-charge of Sirajganj Sadar Police Station.
They were sent to jail after being produced before a court in Sirajganj.
Both Likhon and Ratan are brothers of defeated councillor candidate Sahadat Hosain. All the arrestees hailed from Shahidganj village in Sirajganj, the OC said.
