City Detective Branch police rounded up four members of a auto rickshaw based hijacking gang from city area . DB police patrol team apprehended them on board of CNG taxi from CRB area in the on Wednesday .
The detained hijackers namely- Md. Maksudur Rahman, Wahidul Islam, Md. Jainul, Iqbal Hossain .After interrogation by law enforcers , the detained hijackers confessed that their target on bank where bulk money are withdrawn by the customers and they always stay near the bank premises .
Deputy Police Commissioner (DB) Md. Shahidullah told the media that one NGO employee Mitu Ghosh withdraws Tk.1.70 lakh from Dhaka Bank branch of Jubilee road and he was proceeding to Nur Ahmed Road and the hijacking party obstructed the way of Mitu ghosh on board of rickshaw and picked up him in the CNG taxi forcibly .
Following the hue and cry by Mitu Ghosh, on patrol duty DB vigilance team chased them and managed to apprehend them from CRB area and recovered the hijacked money bag instantly. Besides , police recovered one gun, 4 round bullets, two knives, and hijacked taka amounting to Tk.1.70 lakh and detained the taxi under police custody, sources added.
