Four madrasa students have, so far, been detained in connection with the incident of damaging an under-construction statue of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Rahman at Panch Rasta intersection in Kushtia, said Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal.
“In a CCTV footage, collected earlier, we have seen that two students-Abu Bakr and Nahid-came out from Ibn Masud Madrasa early hours of Saturday and vandalised the statue with hammers. Based on their information, two more madrasa students-Alamin and Yusuf-have been detained.”
The Minister disclosed this to media at a press briefing held at Secretariat.
Asaduzzaman Khan warned that no anarchy would be allowed in the country.
Miscreants vandalised the face and some portion of the right hand of the statue of the Bangabandhu set up at Panch Rasta intersection sometime on Friday night.
Police, however, collected the CCTV footage and found that two people were damaging the statues around 2am.
