Coast Guard rescued eight Malaysia bound fortune seekers from outer berth of Chittagong Port.
These fortune seekers were rescued at 5 pm on Thursday. Coast Guard also apprehended four persons including boat driver allegedly involved with the human trafficking. Coast Guard Commander Capt Shahidul Islam told that they rescued these fortune seekers from a wooden engine boat floating in the Bay suspiciously.
Sources said these fortune seekers were brought from different parts of the country and they boarded in the boat from the Karnaphuli river channel.
Out of for arrested, two were brokers and two boat men. These rescued and detained persons were handed over to Patenga thana police and case filed under Human Trafficking Act, sources added.
