Four people were killed in separate incidents in the city and district on Saturday night and Sunday..
The deceased were identified as Mohammad Nurul Azam Razu, 20, Rashedul Hoque, 18, Mahibullah Mahi, 14 and Mohammad Farhad, 40.
Razu was critically injured after unidentified miscreants chopped him indiscriminately at city’s Hamzarbag area under Panchlaish thana around 1.30am on Saturday night, said Mohiuddin Mahmud, Officer-in-charge (OC) of Panchlaish police station.
Locals rushed him to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) where attending doctors declared him dead.
Razu was a listed drug trader of the locality and might have been killed by his rivals over sharing money, the OC added.
In second incident, Mahi and Farhad died on the spot when a vegetables-laden pickup carrying them fell into a roadside pond after its driver lost control over the steering and hit the vehicle with a tree at Hinguli Bazar area under Mirsarai upazila of the district Sunday morning.
Besides, Rashedul was critically injured after a speedy truck knocked him down while he was standing beside the road at Ichhapur area under Rangunia upazila of the district around 12.30pm on Sunday.
He was rushed to CMCH where attending doctors declared him dead.
