Four people were killed in separate incidents in the city on Wednesday.
The deceased were identified as Mohammad Rasel, 21, a worker of Bangladesh Steel Re-Rolling Mills (BSRM) in Nasirabad Industrial area in the city, Nurul Alam, 41, a mentally disable man, hailed from Ashadganj area, adolescent Tara Mia, 15, hailed from Bakalia thana and an unidentified girl aged about 14. Rasel was electrocuted when he came in contact with a live-electric wire as continue filling work at BSRM industry in city’s Nasirabad Industrial area around 8 am, police outpost sources at Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) said.
Kotwali Thana Police said Nurul Alam died on the spot when a truck crushed him under its wheel in Ashadganj area at around 12 pm.
Adolescent Tara Mia was killed while sinking into a canal in Tulatali area of Bakalia thana in the city at 1 pm. Locals and family members rescued the victim in an unconscious state and brought him to CMCH at 2 pm where on duty doctors confirmed his death, Bakalia police sources said.
