Two persons including a child were killed and 15 others injured in a road accident at Batrish Mile area on the Rangpur-Bogra highway under Sadullapur upazila of the district early yesterday morning.
The victims were Abu Taleb, 50, son of Mansur Ali of Kasamari village under Lalmonirhat Sadar upazila and Ashura, 7, daughter of Akbar Ali of Ulipur upazila in Kurigram district.
Police said the accident occurred when a Sylhet bound bus hit a stone-laden standing truck in the area, leaving two passengers of the bus dead on the spot and 15 others injured.
The injured were sent to Pirganj Upazila Health Complex. Later, five persons were shifted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital in critical condition.
Officer-in-Charge of Sadullapur thana Zia Latiful Islam confirmed the incident.
BSS from Magura adds: Two persons were killed and 40 others injured when two buses collided head on at Vellakandi area on Magura-Faridpur Highway yesterday afternoon.
The accident took place when a Chuadanga deluxe bound bus from Dhaka collided with Dhaka bound bus of Nupur Paribahan from Jessore at Vellakandi on the Magura-Faridpur highway at about 3.00 pm.
After the accident driver of Chuadanga deluxe bus Rabi Hossain, 50 and a passenger Mizanur Rahman died on the spot.
Both the bodies kept at Magura Sadar Hospital morgue for Autopsy.
The seriously injured 24 passengers of two buses were admitted to Magura Sadar Hospital and the rest injured passengers were admitted to Faridpur and different hospitals.
Most of the injured persons from Magura, Jhenaidha, Chuadanga, Jessore and Meherpur districts. Police also seized both the buses and a case was filed in this connection.
