4 killed in Ctg road mishaps

Three persons including a CNG-run auto-rickshaw driver were killed and three others injured in a road accident in SarkarHat area under Anowara upazila of the district yesterday.
Two of the deceased were identified as CNG-run auto-rickshaw driver Gias Uddin, 35, and its passenger Shafiullah, 32, while the identity of the other deceased could not be known immediately.
The injured were auto-rickshaw passengers – Selim, 25, Farukh, 25, and Ayesha Begum, 40.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Anowara thana Abdul Latif said the accident occurred when a CNG-run auto-rickshaw collided head-on with a passenger bus in the area, injuring the auto-rickshaw driver and its five passengers around 9.30 am.
The wounded were rushed to the Upazila Health Complex from where they were later shifted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH), the OC added.
Sub-Inspector (SI) Pankaj Barua of CMCH police outpost said duty doctors declared two of them dead when four were taken to the hospital as the one died later.
Another report adds: One person was killed and 20 others injured in a head-on collision between two passenger buses at Mitapukur area under Mirsari upazila of the district at 11 am yesterday.
The identity of the deceased passenger could not be known immediately. Mohammad Arif, Sub Inspector of Mirsari thana said the accident occurred when a Chittagong city bound Shahi passenger bus collided head on with a Dhaka bound Choice passenger bus at Mitachara bazaar area, killing one bus passenger and injuring 20 other passengers around 11 am.
The injured were rushed to the Upazila Health Complex from where later 12 injured persons were shifted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH), Arif added.
Sub-Inspector (SI) Pankaj Barua of CMCH police outpost said duty doctors declared one of them dead. The injured were being treated at the hospital, the SI added.
