Three people including two women were killed and 10 others injured as a thunderbolt struck the boat carrying them on the Meghna River near Sreenagar village in Sadar upazila on Tuesday afternoon.
The deceased were identified as Rehana Begum, 50, wife of Chan Mia, Farida Begum, 35, wife of Deloar Hossain and Quium Mia, 25, son of Mona Mia, all hailing from Meghjanpur village under the upazila.
Inspector (Investigation) of Narsingdi Model Police Station Mojaffor Hossain said the boat was hit by the lightning strike around 5pm while it was moving toward Meghjanpur village from upazila Sadar amid the thunder shower, leaving the trio dead on the spot and 10 others injured.
The injured were rushed to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital.
UNB from Khulna adds: A man was killed when a thunderbolt struck him at Bakhar bil in Dumuria upazila on Tuesday morning.
The deceased was identified as Anis Sheikh, 36.
Locals said that Anis was struck by the thunderbolt while he was working at his fish enclosure in the area around 9:20 am and died on the spot.
