Atleast four people were killed and four others were injured severely after thunderstorm and lightning hit the region on Thursday noon.
The victims were identified as Isahuq Ali Haoladar, 44, and Rustam Ali Shikdar , 60, two farmers working at field in Andhar Manik village under Mehendiganj upazila and Nurul Islam ,47, a farmer and Hazera Begum, 38, a house wife of Memania-Borojalia village under Hizla upazila of the district.
Besides, Abdur Razzak, 60, a daylabour, Surma Begum, 8, Abu Bakar Siddik, 11, students of Charhogla primary school, injured severely and admitted at local health complex, said M R Shawkat Anowar, Officer- In- Charge of Kazirhut Police Station under Mehendiganj Upazila.
Razzak Sardar, 58, husband of killed Hazrea Begum of Memania, injured severely and admitted at local health complex, said Sub Inspector Bazlur Rahman of Hizla police station.
Local metrological department said thunder storm blown over the region from 12:10 to 2:00 PM over different arrears of the region.
Barisal Met office recorded 36 millimeters rain fall in the city and surrounding areas from 12:00 to 3:00 PM and thunderstorm with gusty wind average speed of 40 nautical miles influenced by monsoon weather and the low created over the northern Bay of Bengal.
Electricity supply disrupted and a number of domestic animals also killed in different areas of the region.
