Jessore Correspondent :Four people were killed and two others injured when a train hit a private car at Mathurapur-Manikdi Jamtala level crossing under Kotwali police station in Jessore on Thursday morning. The deceased were identified as Chayan, 15, son of Nittapado Das of village Terrer Hat under Kotwali thana, Joya Rani Sarker, 50, Rezaul Karim Raju, 38, of village Chachrail under Keshabpur upazila and the car driver Abdul Hakim, 32, of village Baisha under Keshabpur upazila in the district.The injured were admitted to the hospital. They were going to Terrerhat.When contacted, the Sub-Inspector of Kotwali police station said, a Dhaka-bound train ‘Chitra Express’ coming from Khulna crashed into a private car at the level crossing in the area around 10:30 am, leaving all the four passengers of the car dead on the spot and two injured. Police recovered the bodies and sent them to Jessore Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy, he said. According to police and local, the ill-fated four persons met the tragic end of their lives while they were crossing the un-guard level crossing. As the level crossing always remains un-guard, taking the risk people have to cross it regularly. “There was no guard at the level crossing when the accident took place,” Elias Hossain, Officer-in-Charge, Kotwali police station said.
