Four passengers of a CNG-powered autorickshaw were killed when a bus rammed them at Shajahanpur in Bogura.
The accident took place in front of the MP check post at the Majhira area of Dhaka-Bogura Highway in the upazila at 6:00 am on Friday.
However, the police have not been able to identify the victims yet.
Confirming the matter, Bogura Shajahanpur police station SI Md. Mizanur Rahman said a bus coming from the opposite side crushed the Bogura town-bound autorickshaw carrying passengers from Sherpur Upazila in front of the MP checkpost.
“Three passengers of the autorickshaw died on the spot. Another injured was rescued and taken to Bogura Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College (SZRMC) Hospital where doctors declared him dead,” he also said.
He added that the identities of the deceased have not been confirmed yet. After the incident, the driver-helper fled leaving the bus on the highway, causing traffic congestion on the road.
Traffic has returned to normal after the autorickshaws and buses involved in the accident were moved from the spot, said SI Md. Mizanur Rahman.
