3 persons were killed on the spot and one injured when a truck laden with stones collided with another truck laden with bricks on Rampal Thermo Power Plant (under construction) Link Road under Rampal Upazila in Bagerhat district on Tuesday afternoon. The deceased persons were identified as driver Yasin Ansari (22), hailed from Patkelghata Upazila in Satkhira district, helper Md. Rakib (25) hailed from Harintana PS under Khulna district and helper Md. Iqbal Hawladar (23) hailed from Bhandaria Upazila in Pirojpur district.
Md. Tuhin Hawladar, Officer-in-charge of Rampal PS told the newsmen, at about 2 pm bricks laden truck was standing position on the one side of the Link Road and its driver Yasin Ansari and helper Md. Rakib were replacing its punctured wheel. At that time a speeding (stones laden) truck that was going towards Rampal Power Plant dashed the standing truck violently from its behind. As a result, driver (Yasin Ansari) and helper (Md. Rakib) of bricks laden truck and helper (Md. Iqbal Hawladar) of stones laden truck were killed on the spot and another helper of the truck was injured. The injured truck helper was admitted to Khulna Medical College Hospital for his treatment while the dead bodies were sent to Bagerhat Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
Another report states that a school student named Mohammad Ali (14) was killed on the spot and 2 other students named Zobair and Bappi were injured seriously when their motor cycle collided head on with a pickup laden with pipes on Chaurastar More (square) at Pan Bazar of Mollahat Upazila headquarters in the district on Wednesday noon. The injured students were admitted to Khulna Medical College Hospital and Gopalganj Sadar Hospitl for their treatment. All of them are students of Class VIII of the local Govt. Wazed Memorial Model High School.
