4 killed, 23 injured in road mishaps

Atleast four people were killed and 21 others were injured in separate road accidents in Sitakundu Upazila of the district on Thursday and Friday morning.
The deceased were identified as M Shakhawat, 25, hailed from Sandwip Upazila, Ismail Hossain, 47 , Anwar Hossain, 50 and Dhana Miah 55.
Baro Awlia police outpost of highway police inspector Shahidullah told that a minibus turned turtle on Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Bhatiary area under Sitakundu Upazila around 6:30am, leaving its helper Shakhawat dead on the spot on Thursday .
 Two others were killed and two sustained injuries as a truck knocked a human hauler at Sitakundu municipality road around 7:30am.Sitakundu Model Thana assistant police super Salauddin Sikder confirmed the matter to the media.
Meanwhile One bus passenger was also killed and at least 21 were injured in a road accident at Chuto Kumira on Dhaka-Chittagong Highway of the district on Friday morning. The victim was identified as Dhana Mia,55, hailed from Fathepur Nayapara of Moddyom thana under Netrokona district.
Among the injured persons 12 were admitted at Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) and rest were also admitted at different private hospital of the city and district, police and eyewitness source said. The conditions of two unidentified bus passengers are stated to be critical, SI Jahirul Islam, Sub inspector of CMCH police outpost said.
Police said the accident occurred when a Chittagong- bound passenger bus from Netrokona collided head-on with another Dhaka bound speedy covered van at Chuto Kumira area of Sitakunda early on Friday.
