Four activists of the Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) Jagannath University (JnU) unit, was severely beaten by a group of activists belonging to the Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) on the campus on Thursday noon.
The victims were identified as Rafiqul Islam, Aslam, Pavel, Mohabbat.
Critically injured Rafique was admitted to National Medical College Hospital.
Witnesses said, a roundtable was held at the university administrative building on ‘Pahela Baishakh’ yesterday. When a team of JnU unit JCD, led by Rafique and Aslam, entered the campus, a group of BCL activists assaulted them.
JnU Proctor Dr Asoke Kumar Saha told “The New Nation” that, the attackers could not be identified as they fled away immediately”. “No written complaint has been received in this connection”, he added.
