Police of Bagerhat arrested 4 members of outlawed JMB (Jamayetul Mojahedin of Bangladesh) from Daratana bridge area in Bagerhat district town along with some arms and ammunitions on Wednesday midnight after an armed encounter took place between the police and the JMB members.
It is reported that acting on secret information that some JMB members are hatching a plot in a tea stall there at night in order to commit sabotage activities a police squad of Bagerhat Model PS raided the area. But at that time sensing the presence of the police the JMB members threw bombs to the police. As a result, ASI Najmul Hossain of DB police and Constable Mostafuzur Rahman sustained injuries. In their defense police opened 5 rounds gun fire, overpowered the miscreants and arrested 4 of them along with one pistol, two rounds of live ammunitions, 2 bombs, 1 laptop, 2 sharp knives and some apparatus for making bombs. At that time 2/3 unidentified miscreants managed to escape.
The arrested JMB members are Md. Maksudur Rahman alias Tota (24), son of one Jumman Ali Sardar of village Garekanda under Sadar Upazila in Satkhira district, Saiful Alam (36), son of one Abdul Karim of village Itgacha and Morshed Alam (20), son of one Giasuddin of Kadamtala bazar area in the same district and Zahirul Islam (22), son of one Ashraful Ali Faraji of village Raghunathpur under Najirpuir Upazila in Pirojpur district.
Pankaj Chandra Roy, Police Super of Bagerhat admitted the fact and disclosed to the newsmen, 4 criminal cases were registered with Bagerhat Model PS against them under different sections.
