Mobile court in Chittagong convicted four traders with different jail terms for selling the date expired dates and kismish on Wednesday .
Chittagong District Administration launched anti-food adulteration drive at a cold storage in the port city and seized 15 thousand sacks of date and Kishmish weighing 4,000 tonnes in Reazuddin bazaar area under Kotwali thana on Wednesday as well as to take legal action against the businessmen for selling the rotten fruits.
Executive Magistrate Mohammad Asharful Alam conducted the drive at ETAC Cold storage in the area comprising Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) officials.
The Magistrate awarded jail in different terms to four persons including manager of the cold storage SK Datta for selling the adulterated fruits items.
The mobile court of Chittagong District Administration sentenced SK Datta to one-year imprisonment and rests three other buyers to six months jail each.
