UNB, Rangpur :Three day labourers were killed in a head-on collision between a bus and a human hauler (Nasimon) at Jaigirhat Pakapul on the Rangpur-Bogra highway in Mithapukur upazila on Tuesday night.Identities of the deceased could not be known immediately.Witnesses said the Dhaka-bound ‘Taj Paribahan’ bus from Thakurgaon collided head-on with a wood-laden Nasimon in the area around 11.30pm, leaving three laborers on the human hauler dead on the spot.Police recovered the bodies and sent those to Rangpur Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.Humayun Kabir, officer-in-charge of Mithapukur Police Station, confirmed the incident.Meanwhile, a policeman was killed and three others were injured as a police pickup van fell into a roadside ditch after being hit by a truck at Kajirdighi on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Sadar upazila early Wednesday.The deceased was identified as Rafiqul Islam, constable of Mahuriganj highway police camp and a resident of Brahmanpara in Comilla district, while the injured were identified as constables Harunur Rashid and Enamul Haque and assistant sub-inspector Shawkat.Police said a pickup van carrying policemen on patrol fell into a roadside ditch as an unidentified truck hit it from behind in the area at about 2:30 am, leaving four policemen injured.The injured were rushed to Feni Zila Hospital where attending doctors declared Rafiqul dead.Sergeant Joynal Abedin, in-charge of Mahuriganj highway police camp, confirmed the incident.
