4 Ijtema devotees among 12 killed in road mishaps

At least 12 people, including four Ijtema devotees, were killed and 38 others injured in separate road accidents in the capital, Bogra and Bandarban districts on Monday.
The injured were admitted to local hospitals and clinics, police said.
At least four persons were killed and 10 others injured in a head-on collision between a truck and a bus in the city’s Banani intersection area around 5:00am.
The deceased were identified as Habibur Rahman, 60, Intaj Ali, 50, Ashaful, 60, and Taslim Uddin, 60.

Station said, a bus carrying Ijtema devotees collided with a Sherpur bound truck in the area around 5:00am, leaving four dead on the spot.
The injured were admitted to the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), the police official said.
In Demra, a motorcyclist was killed and another injured when a goods laden truck hit their bike from behind in the city’s Demra area in the afternoon. The deceased was identified as Morshed, 27, said Pankaj Sarkar, Sub-Inspector of Demra Police Station.
In another incident at Tejgaon, an auto-rickshaw driver was killed and two passengers were injured when a speedy truck hit their vehicle near Bjoy Sarani in Tejgaon around 5:30am. The deceased was identified as Tareq Rahman, 33, hailing from Gangachara in Rangpur district, said Misharraf Hossain, SI of Tejgaon Police Station.
In Bogra, at least four home bound Ijtema devotees were killed and 20 others injured when a goods laden speedy truck hit their bus from behind in dense fog in the Dhaka-Thakurgaon highway at Betgari near Bogra district town around 3:00am.
The deceased were identified as Habibur Rahman, 40, Ashraful Islam, 45, Taslim Uddin, 43 and Antaz Ali, 45, inhabitant of Baliadangi upazila in Thakurgoan district, said Mizanur Rahman, Duty Officer of Kowtali Police Station.
On the other hand, two workers were killed and five others injured when a jeep plunged into a roadside ditch at Akhyangjhiri in Ruma upazila in Bandarban district around 1:30pm. The identity of the deceased could not be known immediately, said Ruma OC Shariful Islam.
