Detectives arrested four people along with a truckload of rice carried without any valid document at Rupdia Bazar in Sadar upazila of Jessore district on Wednesday night.
The arrestees were identified as the truck driver, Islam Sheikh Moni, son of Aziz Sheikh, a resident Shibpur village in Sadar upazila of Faridpur; Al-Amin, son of Joynal Abedin, a resident of Sangita More area in Satkhira town; Mohammad Liton, son of Alal Hossain, a resident of Sonadanga area, and Mizan, son of Mojam, a resident of Phulbari Gate area of Khulna district.
Officer-in-charge of the Detective Branch (DB) of police Manirujjaman said four truckloads of rice, including the truck, were going to Mrs Zilani Store in Chittagong,
The arrestees stole the truckload of rice and went to Rupdia Bazar for selling the item.
Tipped off, DB police conducted a drive in the area at night and arrested them along with the rice as they could not show any document against that, said the OC.
