Police recovered arms, bullets, crude bombs, drugs and leather of rare species animals from a house at Chairman Bari in the city’s Banani area on Sunday.
The police also arrested four persons, including two women, in this connection. They were identified as Rokhsana (50), Afsara Rashid(25), Tushar(28) and Zonayed(28).
“Acting on a tip-off, the police recovered five foreign made pistols, two air guns, 27 round of bullets, four petrol bombs and some pieces of knives, local and foreign made tranquilizer, a walky-talkie, hand carp and finished skins of tiger, bear, crocodile and deer raiding the house of Zonayed at road no-1, block-F, house no-105 at Chairman Bari,” Mahbub Hossian Bhuiyan said Officer-in-Charge of Banani police station said.
Police said, Zonayed and Afsara were involved with various kinds of crime for a long time.
They had been cheating people in the name of law enforcing agencies’ members such as police and DB. They were also involved with car robberies and drug business.
Zonayed, son of Abdus salam, is a former government employee. He is drug trader and also involved in car robbery. Alleged criminals of Mohakhali area, Rony and Munna, aided him to commit such crimes. His mother Rokhsana was his patron and Zonayed used her as a trap during car robbery, police said.
Police also said Afsara lives in Uttara. Earlier she lived in Malaysia. She was also involved in car robbery at Malaysia. After getting caught by Mamayshian police, she was sent back to Bangladesh. But she didn’t leave her old job and she again started car robbery here in Bangladesh along with Zonayed. She is also a drug addict.
Gulshan divisional deputy police commissioner Lutfor Kabir said, ” The are criminals from the elite families. Initially we thought they were a group of car robbers. But we alter found they were also involved in various crimes.”
No case was filed in this connection till the time of filing of this report yesterday night.
